INTRODUCTION
Print editions of this author's works are few and very rare.
At the time of writing (September 2017) only two books bearing his name were
available at AbeBooks—The Carson Loan Mystery (which he wrote)
and a work of non-fiction called Fifty Years of Progress in Australia,
1878-1928 (which he edited).
Only five titles are listed at the WorldCat web site:—
- The Carson Loan Mystery
- 1 edition published in 1926
- Held by 8 libraries worldwide
- The Dagger and Cord
- 1 edition published in 1927
- Held by 12 libraries worldwide
- Fifty Years of Progress in Australia, 1878-1928
- 7 editions published in 1929
- Held by 72 libraries worldwide
- The Shadow Crook
- 1 edition published in 1930
- Held by 10 libraries worldwide
- The Unlawful Adventure
- A typescript novel with manuscript corrections
- Dated 1930
- On title page: "The Australian Book Publishing Co., Sydney."
- Held by 1 library worldwide
- Apparently unpublished
Of these, according to Trove (the official web site of the National
Library of Australia), only two are available at libraries in Australia:
The Dagger and Cord and The Shadow Crook.
Fortunately, we are now in a position to create books for the PGA/RGL de
Brune collection from the original newspaper serials preserved in the digital
newspaper archives of the National Library of Australia.
Credit for making these works available to our readers goes to Terry Walker, the Australian bibliophile who discovered the "lost" novels of Peter Cheyney published at RGL. Terry's latest discoveries inspired the PGA/RGL de Brune project, for which he also supplied the files used to create the e-books in this collection.
