To the Dafa Assistance Center in Shandong:

In regards to the issue of practitioners building a temple in Qingyun, it should be made clear to the practitioners that this is not something that should be done under Dafa, and it has nothing to do with Dafa’s cultivation. Do not put your mind to this type of matter. The building of a temple by monks and nuns is an act of individuals, and a matter concerning the monks and nuns themselves. Years ago when monks and nuns began to learn Dafa, out of consideration for their lodging, I, as the master, expressed concern over this matter. As to the present, people have become restless in their hearts and cannot calm down to study the Fa. Some students from out of town have not stayed focused on studying the Fa at home. Instead, they, too, went to Qingyun to mingle with them. This matter has seriously interfered with the students’ cultivation practice. Those disciples who practice cultivation at home also put their minds to building the temple. When some students pointed out that such acts did not comply with Dafa, they argued that Master had been there and the like, covering up their attachments. Some of their conduct has already seriously interfered with practitioners’ systematic cultivation, or has even opposed the form of Dafa. Yet they have obstinately stayed on the deviant course without realizing it. Tell the students to give up all of their attachments and to study the Fa. Those who are from out of town should return home.

No matter where it is, the cultivation form of Dafa is not to be altered. Those who are not monks and nuns absolutely should not follow the monks and nuns traveling around, much less wandering among students in different regions. They even asked students for money in the name of building a temple. I do not believe that the amount of money donated by students for building a temple could in any way help their cultivation practice. On the contrary, it has nothing to do with one’s cultivation practice and improvement. Moreover, it might impose a considerable burden upon some students living in straitened circumstances, thereby disturbing their cultivation practice. I am not concerned with what individuals want to do, but this is not something that I ask you to do and it has nothing to do with cultivation practice. Disciples, why can’t you just give up the attachment to intentional actions?!

In fact, when they were not doing the right thing, I had been giving them hints all along. It is just that they covered it up with the attachment to doing things. They neither wanted to nor dared to face it. They even held on to such attachments while studying the Fa, looking for words that seemed to agree with what they were attached to achieving, and trying to find justifications for their attachments. This is not studying the Fa, let alone cultivation practice. On many occasions in the past, I have stated that practitioners should not wander from place to place, but should concentrate your mind on cultivation practice. I have also warned against lecturing on any so-called "Fa" to students in different regions. Their actions have caused quite a stir in various regions. I have been observing them all along, giving them opportunities to become conscious and aware of it on their own. Yet over and over again they have pushed away the opportunities I have given them, and over and over again they have acted in opposition to Dafa. They are unable to genuinely practice cultivation, and still they interfere with other practitioners. Opportunities have been missed one after another. Behave yourselves! I am watching to see which path they will choose in the future. When a problem arises, search your inner self for solutions—that is the fundamental difference between a Dafa disciple and an ordinary person.
