Editorial Comments:

This is the complete text of the printed edition.

These features of the printed text have been modified:

• Font information was not saved by the OCR.
• Page headers and footers are omitted.
• Multicolumn formatting was not preserved.

Orthography was edited to facilitate automated use:

• Decrypted Roman numerals in hymn numbers and Bible chapters.
• Converted Bible references to "chapter:verse" format.
• Removed word wrapping and concomitant hyphenation.
• Americanized spelling (honor, center, today, etc).
• Removed unneeded apostrophes (ev'ry==every, Abra'm==Abram, bless'd==blest, crown'd==crowned, etc.; but not heav'n, gen'rous, etc.)
• Introduced apostrophes into possessives according to currant usage.
• Moved footnotes from page footers to the end of the hymn.
• Added explicit author to each hymn.
• Added numeric meter notation ("8,8,8,8,8,8", etc.)
• ThML markup (assuming HTML semantics of whitespace)

• Conversion of the scripture index from page numbers to hymn numbers
