The Zodiac is an arrangement of four 'elements' and three 'conditions.'

CARDINAL: Active, dynamic.

The ANGLES, or 'Cardinal' points of the Zodiac correspond the the Equinoxes and Solstices. They occur at the 90 degree axis, and also represent Dawn (Aries / Pisces cusp), Noon (Sagittarius / Capricorn cusp), Sunset (Libra / Virgo cusp), and Midnight (Gemini / Cancer cusp).

The 'Angular' signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, all occur at a 90 degree angle, and are called "Cardinal." Cardinal influence is characterized by initiative, in any of the four elements in which it occurs.

FIXED: Latent, stable.

MUTABLE: Harmonizing, adaptable.
