Agni Yoga (1929) - 43: 43. The pupil must not be
obsessive, and the Teacher must not be seen as a
dictator. Indeed, there is demanded of the student a realization of
Hierarchy and harmony of action - the reconciling of the free will with
acceptance of the Teacher. The weak mind is usually confused. Of course,
the conditions and limitations imposed by the Teaching contradict the
meaning of freedom in its vulgar sense. But through culture and the
realization of goal-fitness the great concept of the Teacher is formed.
The realization of the significance of the idea of the Teacher is a
passing through the first gates of evolution. One should not bring to the
concept of the Teacher expectations of anything supermundane. The Teacher
is the One who gives the best advice for life. This practicality will
embrace knowledge, creativity, and Infinity.
Heart (1932) - 169: 169. It happens that people are so
savage in spirit that they can only live by condemning each other. This is
not an inspection of another's armor with the view of helping; on the
contrary, condemnation becomes the meaning of life. If one deprives such a
condemner of his tongue, he will perish and wither like a plant without
water. Such a manifestation can be investigated from a medical point of
view. One can see in this condemnation a kind of
obsessive vampirism, when the possession of more active
vital fluids is needed to nourish the obsessed one.
Supermundane - The Inner Life - Book 2 (1938) - 360: There
is a curious state of mind called idee fixe. I am not referring to
possession, which may have similar symptoms, but to
obsessive, constantly repeated assertions, which can have
a special significance. Medical science considers the idee fixe to be
dangerous, but this is a baseless judgment. If we accept this opinion, we
must then consider many splendid scientific minds insane! It is time to
revise the notion about the insanity of genius, otherwise we will have to
conclude that fools and dolts have sound and healthy minds! |
