1820's
Flow Blue Plate picturing Lafayette visiting Brother George Washington's Grave

This wonderful
example of historical American Staffordshire transferware by Enoch Wood &
Sons is titled Lafayette At Washingtons Tomb and dates circa 1820.
The manufacturers mark does not appear on the plate, however, this plate is
pictured on page 23 of the reference book titled Historical Staffordshire:
American Patriots & Views by Jeffrey B. Snyder and published by
Schiffer Publishing Ltd. These American Staffordshire pieces include
scenes of General Lafayette at President Washingtons tomb, New York City
Hall, the Boston State House, Mount Vernon, and various landscapes (see last
photo). These pieces were acquired from a Houston, Texas estate. The
Lafayette plate does have a small chip between 1 and 2 o'clock (see arrow in second
photo).
