Imperial Services League of Modern Thought

An organization founded in 1912 by members of the Theosophical Society (TS) in India, with Major C. L. Peacocke as its first General Secretary. It was primarily composed of British Officers in the Public Services of the British Empire and their wives, but others were also admitted. They had to be members of the TS. Its purpose was bring the officers and their families in touch with one another for cooperation, and to encourage them to be familiar with the intellectual, ethical, religious, mystical and scientific thought of the age. Its activities dwindled very soon, and was revived in 1914. But the First World War made it difficult for its activities to continue.
