Alexandria, See also:map designer, probably lived in the 2nd See also:century A.D. Some See also:MSS. of the See also:Geography of See also:Ptolemy contain twenty-seven maps, which are stated to have been See also:drawn by Agathodaemon of Alexandria, who " delineated the whole See also:world according to the eight books of Ptolemy's geography." As Ptolemy speaks of Ilivatces to accompany his See also:treatise, these maps were probably the See also:work of a contemporary acting under his instructions. About 1470 Nicolaus See also:Doris, a See also:Benedictine See also:monk, brought out a revised edition of them, the names being inserted in Latin instead of See also:Greek. See See also:Bunbury, See also:History of See also:Ancient Geography, ii.
