BLOUSE , a word (taken from the See also:

French) used for any loosely fitting bodice belted at the See also:waist. In See also:France it meant originally the loose upper garment of See also:linen or See also:cotton, generally See also:blue, worn by French workmen to preserve their clothing, and, by transference, the workman himself.
