He was distinguished for his strength and his handsome See also:person, for the See also:wisdom of his sayings, the acuteness of his See also:riddles and the beauty of his lyric See also:poetry. See also:Diogenes Laertius quotes a See also:letter in which Cleobulus invites See also:Solon to take See also:refuge with him against See also:Peisistratus; and this would imply that he was alive in 56o B.C. He is said to have held advanced views as to See also:female See also:education, and he was the See also:father of the See also:wise Cleobuline, whose riddles were not less famous than his own (Diogenes Laertius i. 89-93).
