FURFOOZ , a See also:

village some to m. from See also:Dinant in the See also:Ardennes, See also:Belgium. Three caves containing prehistoric remains were here excavated in 1872. Of these the Trou de Frontal is the most famous. In it were found human skeletons with See also:brachycephalic skulls, associated with See also:animal bones, those of the See also:reindeer being particularly plentiful. Among the skeletons was discovered an See also:oval See also:vase of pottery. The Furfooz type of mankind is believed to date from the See also:close of the See also:Quaternary See also:age. G. de See also:Mortillet See also:dates the type in the Robenhausen See also:epoch of the See also:Neolithic See also:period. His theory is that the bones are those of men of that period buried in what had been a See also:cave-dwelling of the See also:Madelenian epoch.
