He was noted especially for two pictures, one of which represented See also:Ajax during his madness, the other See also:Medea meditating the slaying of her See also:children. Both of these See also:works were remarkable for their See also:power of expression, especially in the See also:face, and so belong to the latest phase of Greek See also:art. Of the Medea we may See also:form some notion from paintings found at See also:Pompeii, representing that heroine See also:standing with a sheathed See also:sword in her See also:hand, and watching the children at See also:play (Helbig, Wandgemalde Campaniens, Nos. 1262–1265).
