WAX , a solid fatty substance of See also:animal and See also:vegetable origin, allied to the fixed See also:oils and fats. From these it is distinguished by the fact that while oils and fats are glycerides, a true wax contains no See also:glycerin, but is a See also:combination of fatty acids with certain solid monatomic See also:alcohols (see OILS).
