I should state from the start that I am an atheist - however after reading tons of material about the holocaust I am still in awe of the capacity of the Jewish race to survive all the pogroms over the centuries. Up until the second world war antisemitism was rife not only in Europe but also in the UK and the United States. These governments chose to do absolutely nothing in the knowledge that a catastrophic event was taking place in Europe. This deserves almost as much remembrance as the actual holocaust.

If just one person remembers the holocaust and feels some tiny spark of remorse for a race that very nearly succumbed to an evil that was perpetrated not just by Hitler and his coterie but by thousands and thousands of willing helpers, then all those who perished will live on.......and on......

I've just finished reading "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William L. Shirer and "The Holocaust" by Martin Gilbert. I happened upon this website while looking for more information on the Holocaust. I am frightend by the thought that people would deny that this horror happened. I had chosen to believe that people would not be that blind. I am sorry to find out that I was wrong. I applaud your efforts.

I am at present reading "The King of Children", a biography of Janusz Korczak a Polish-Jewish doctor who sacrificed his own safety to stay with 192 orphans taken on the wagons to Treblinka to die. Reading this book has prompted me to search the Internet to see what is stored regarding the Holocaust.

This is a subject that should never be forgotten - words will never express how deeply I feel. Thank you for this web site.

I am going to be using this material this up-coming school year to teach my 5th Grade Class about what happened during the war. The community I teach is is very racist, so this will be very rewarding work for me. I work daily trying to "Break Down The Walls of Racism". I ask one thing I need to know the meaning of one word, it is a Hebrew word. It is Mazal. If anyone can help me I thank-you in advance. This Holacaust History Project is excellent work. I thank the Almighty God for people who bring all this to light for others in the world. Maggie Downing Missouri

Your web site should be downloaded to every school in the world and should be obligatory reading for all humankind over the age of ten. The Holocaust is something that must never be forgotten, and can never be forgiven. It will help people understand how undeniable, and deplorable was. I am forty seven years old and have seen some very horrible thing in my life. Some twenty two years ago I lost a two year old son in a road accident, he was just sitting in his pushchair on the foot path when he was hit be a speeding motorbike, it devastated me and will live with me for the rest of my life and beyond. The Jewish people have to live with the same kind of grief millions of times over. With that kind of strength I wish I was Jewish. God bless the Jewish People. Question 1 Is mankind doomed to relive history? and should we consider the past? Answer Yes, Yes. Why Just think of Slobodan Milosevic and what he has done, and continues to do in, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the Balkans A state of emergency was declared in February 1990 after fighting broke out between Ethnic Albanians, Police, and Kosovo Serbs. The parliament and government were dissolved July 1990 and the Serbian parliament formally annexed from Kosovo in September of 1990. The Serbian invasion brought Kosovo to the brink of civil war. Albanian institutions and media were suppressed, and `emergency legislation' used to rid industry of Albanian employees at all levels. Dose this remind you of anything ? I do not pretend to know all the answers but it is not hard for me to see which way Slobodan Milosevic was heading. It stinks of the Nazis and the yellow star. Maybe its time now for this web site to bring all kinds of Genocide, no matter were they happen in the world, to the attention of the world. Information and film videos. Warning these film documentary videos contain disturbing and violent accounts. The Yellow Star the persecution of the jews in europe. Holocaust the liberation of Auchwitz. Holocaust the liberation of Majdanek. Distributed by Pedigree Films/M.S.S. P.O.Box 314 Northampton NN4 0BA.

TO DENIERS of THE HOLOCAUST,

I've lost my aunts and uncles in Treblinka(they were children), my grandparents by German bombs, and any trace of my family roots. My parents wake up screaming every night of thier lives. They lost everyone. Instead of denying, just admit your hatred.

TO the TEAM- Your contribution to humanity is so appreciated. What you have done is immense! Please continue. Thank You!!!

Ode

I grieve for you, my hearts downcast but this you cannot know. My soul crys, out to you so much, poor, poor Kosovo.

I gaze upon the plight and hell, of all the refugees. And of there wretched heartache, pain and fatalities.

I sit in comfort and watch the killing on, this, my sky t v I am but a bewildered bystander of repeating history.

Its not to hard to remember what Hitler did, and the Jewish misery. Milosevic calls it Ethnic cleansing, those words, are repugnant to me.

It must make sense to you like me this Genocide is wrong. So I say to all the World this repulsive killing cant go on.

No one has the right to pronounce who lives or who should die. Nor does the United Nations not Milosevic, not you ,nor I,

We cannot turn our backs on the bloodshed and the killing We must rid the world of all Fascists and those who do their bidding.

So let us let them know where ever they hide or where ever they may run They will be made to pay, for justice will be done.

I grieve for you, my hearts downcast, but this you cannot know. I dedicate this ode to you , poor, poor, Kosovo.

Thank you for your nice works.

I've just read the essay [Why "revisionism" isn't] by Gord McFee. It's really surprising for me that the revisionists against the Holocaust is very similar, in their method, to the Japanese revisionists against the Nanking atrocity and the 'comfort women'. Japanese government and the revisionists deny or distort the facts. I'm sad as they humilitate the victims again and again by denying the witnesses.

"Gehenna" I was in the Garden where you first met temptation and succumbed to its insatiable desire. In Canaan,I stood before you as the life of your brother fled its consecrated sanctuary. When the holy men came from the West to defile Jerusalem,it was I who bade them welcome. I stood upon the plains of the great New World and watched as the Peoples blood flowed like a vast and endless river, bearing away all faith and reason within its merciless currents. In Birkeneau where the dammed ascended to heaven like grey ghosts, tormented and destroyed in searing fire, I stood and watched as the world became inverted, and decency transformed into cruelty unbound. In Erin where God surely weeps over the bodies of his children, torn, broken and exiled. In Nanking. In Cambodia. In Serbia and El Salvadore. In the mean, myraid regions of this senseless common boundry. It is I who stand in the Abyss. Ever present and longing.Filled with relentless hunger for dominion that will not be denied.Seek me not,for I am allready found. You have only to look with your lineal eyes, your tribal hearts as you turn against your brothers. On this I feast from the labour you have sown. Now we are all Beasts together. Now we are one.

This poem is dedicated to my father, a Jew and Allied soilder who helped to liberate Bergen-Belson. It is dedicated to my Grandfather's brother, wife and fourteen year old son who were murdered by the nazis on a street, somewhere in Belgium. Brave Catholics all who had been accused of being part of the resistance movement. They were all shot without trial in public. It is dedicated in pity and sadness to the ignorant who wont believe the truth. But mostly,it is dedicated to the multitudes who have perished because of our senseless hate and inhumanity towards each other, our brothers.

This was my favorite site above all because it was so factuall and I am so interested in the Holocaust. I studied it all through high school and some in college as well. I personally hope that many others will view this website so that they can become more aware of the past and be sure that this never happens again.

Your website is a great resource tool for Holocaust and genocide studies. Anything that can increase awareness and education about the Holocaust is a wonderful thing. For too long too many people have either denied that the Holocaust occurred or have been completely oblivious to it. With the power of the internet it is time to increase Holocaust consciousness in the fervent hope that the greatest crime in human history will never happen again.

I was not yet born, when these terrible events took place. I have however been living with the shame that my beloved Canada, betrayed humanity and turned away Jewish people, whom might have otherwise lived.

Your site has been very informative and has helped me formulate an initial program of teaching my grandchildren about this period of history.

My hope is that by informing both my children and grandchildren, that it may lessen the probability of history repeating itself. I have told them relatively little as I had no adequate reference material available to me. Now that your site is available, I will begin the education of my grandchildren.

A heartfelt thank you to all of those who establish and maintain this site, for it has also made quite clear to me what my father used to talk about when he discussed his time overseas.

My intention on leaving this message, is to encourage all Canadians to educate their families on our part of this nightmare and for no-one to depend on just a small session in school to educate our young. Only by education can we create intolerance to these actions.

I am glad that the history of this horrific event is documented lest we forget. My father served as a stretcher bearer on the beaches of Normandy. As part of the Medical Core he was part of the medical relief to the prisoners at these camps. He could not talk about it afterwards and my mother said he nightmares for two years over what he saw there. Needless to say he was never the same man after this. I hope and pray that man does not repeat the same mistakes.

I will never forget seeing my uncle's photo albums as a child. I was about ten when my uncle took me on his lap & brought out his collection of about twelve large photo albums from the War. My uncle volunteered to join the RAF before the US entered the war...he was convinced that the Nazis represented the greatest threat the world had ever known. Because of his photographic skills he was put into the documenting unit of the RAF's camp-liberating group. He personally saw and documented the horrors of at least four concentration camps, the largest being Bergen-Belsen.

He showed me his black and white pictures which he had taken when his unit overran and liberated death camps. I will never forget his telling me that I should always remember these pictures because, and I quote him: "one day some people will tell you that these things never happened. I want you to see for yourself that these things DID happen and I have proof..."

I will never forget my horror at seeing those pictures. At one camp the Nazis had arranged many piles of bodies according to the sex and age of the prisoner. A pile of fetuses. A pile of infants. A pile of old women. The piles went on beyond the vanishing point in the horizon of the camp; there were over two hundred piles holding almost 15,000 bodies. And my uncle was told by the arrested German officers that those piles were produced in one days "action."

My uncle then told me that he and several other soldiers rounded up the German officers, and my uncle found the camp commandant. After speaking with this monster (who bragged about his accomplishments) my uncle took out his revolver and blew the officers' brains out. My uncle always regreted doing this because he thought afterwards that this officer could provide information which the Allies could use against the Nazis.

I COULD NEVER CLAIM TO KNOW THE HORROR OF THESE THINGS, AND HISTORY MUST SERVE TO SHOW THE WORLD, ONE AND ALL, WHAT WAS DONE. THE FACT THAT THERE ARE THE CAMPS STILL EXISTING, AND THE SEEMINLGY THOUSANDS OF PHOTOGRAPHS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC (NOW OF COURSE, MORE THAN EVER), AND YET THERE STILL SHOULD BE FOOLS DENYING THE ATROCITY... IT LEAVES ME SPEECHLESS. NOT THAT I AM A PERSON WHO IS MUCH MOVED BY POLITICS OR LAW; RATHER I AM AWARE THAT HOW WE EDUCATE OURSELVES IS HOW WE SEE OURSELVES. IN A WORLD WHERE ALL WE HEAR ARE LIES, IT REALLY DOESN'T HELP TO HAVE PEOPLE GLOSSING OVER WHAT WE TRY SO HARD TO FIGHT EVERY DAY. THANK YOU FOR HAVING A HAND IN EDUCATING US ALL.

I have been studying the holocaust for several years and have collected various volumes related to the holocaust. This is one way I try to understand human nature. After viewing some film and video clips of holocaust related events, I decided to surf the web. I came across this site though a web meta-search engine and started to browse through. It is fascinating to me that the proceedings of the International Military tribunal at Nuremberg are contained in this site. I have souoght for several years to see if any copies of the proceedings were ever in publication and available. Now I have discovered them, and only hope to have time to search through them. This is a great site.

I was surfing the net and decided to search for keyword Holocaust. I have always been curious of this part in history, although my high school teachers did not speak of it. Many children and teens do not even know of this tragedy. My grandmother was an immagrant from Germany and came with my grandpa during the war.

An excellent web site to visit. Most interesting aspects have now been revealed in its true form. I will visit this web site time and time again! The Nazis deserved extermination at the end and I feel that the Holocaust survivors must at least be paid compensation for the attrocious and inhumane attitudes of the Nazis. I also feel the Jewish community should be credited for the suffrage they have persisted.

It horrifies me what went on during Hitler's reign in Germany. It scares me to think that it could happen again in any country at any given time. My husband is from a German family, if you didn't notice my last name is SCHINDLER, and I'm proud of his heritage. Although the Holocaust and all its pain really hits me in my soul. I feel such sympathy and compassion for all the people that had to endure such conditions and I call the survivers of the Holocaust, my heros!!! I can't believe that one person could be so evil and destroy so many innocent lives. GOD BLESS THE JEWISH RACE!!!!!

Very moving, well-reaearched, very well done. Should be required reading for all young people who think of the Holocaust as something that happened in the mists of ancient history. This unprecendented horror occured a very short time ago, and your website, with its detail and organization, will help people understand how real it all unfortunately was. I hate to say I enjoyed it, but it was absorbing and moving. Keep up the good work!

When I was in early elementary school, I was told Christianity was evil because Hitler was a Christian. After much research and a little luck, I found out differently- in college. In your website you cite as an expert Michael Phayer, who in a farly recent journal article (in The Journal of Holocaust and Genocide Studies, I believe, but I do not have it with me) claims that the Germans did not stop Hitler because Christan doctrine says Jews must suffer to complete Christians' salvation. Even if that were all, I have had just about enough of this.

The holocaust shows that some people can be persuaded to do anything if they think they will not be judged. Thank God that the Allies won and therefore got to write the history, else after 50 years no-one would even know what Jewish meant.

This is a valuable site and serves as a firm rebuttal to those who would deny the Holocaust ever happened, whilst somehow staying blind to the fact that claiming "the holocaust is a Jewish conspiracy" is in fact the kind of hate that festered in Nazi Germany in the first place and allowed it to happen.

I myself is embarrased to be a fellow human being as I can not beleive that a human being of the same species is able to control such a thiing as it discusts me dearly. I have found the Holocaust a big learning experience for myself and I am hoping that I will never hear of such a thing in the future. I love to hear about the history of our world and universe although when I hear the holocaust I am greatly discussed aas I can not beleive that people have the mind and power to do such a thing.

There is a wealth of information on the Holocaust on the web and this site is also a useful contribution.

Since the demise of socialism in Central and Eastern Europe there has also come about a great deal of literature from this region which before was not permitted. I think that the 1990s have given more to the historical research of the Holocaust more than any other period despite the loss of many of the survivors and others who remember during this time.

How far down the well of hatred must civilizations fall before before the echo of death & destruction be heard ? Doomed to relive history if we do not heed the past, we must watch and listen carefully for the echo's of history grow faint. Please keep this web site open no matter what. Access to information such as this is the mortar of knowledge nedded to effect change.

This is a great site, unfortunately it's a sad thing to write about and as great as the site is i wish deeply that it never happened. I live on a small island and we don't learn abt things like these which i think is a huge limitation to the human mind. Ppl here are so blind to real tragedies and so on, they believe that the only real tragedy that ever took place was slavery. Well, hopefully we will learn from such atrocities and grow from them rather than regress. Hitler was a sick and sadistic man who should have never even been born.

My uncle was an American soldier attached to the command that

liberated Aushwitz. He never would talk about it much. His

unit published small booklets of photographs containing the

most graphic evidentiary photos of mass killings I have ever

seen.I really never understood (even to a small degree)the

horror of what they (as a generation) went through, until it

stared me in the face during the Beirut Bombing rescue

operation in 1983. All I can say is I'm glad there are still

people in the world like Sgt.Chester Kowalski.

Thank you for a most wonderful site to study. I am retired and spend a lot of time studying history, especial Germans and peoples who have commited similiar crimes. The purpose is: Why! Why! Why!

I was stationed in Germany from l961 to 64 as a Canadian soldier with NATO. I attempted to ask "why" to many Germans, but they all had the same answers. "We didn't know", or I was a POW or I was in Russia. But anybody thats been to Dachcu or Bergan Belson knows, that in fact the people did know. Dachcu is only about 20 ks from Munuch and Bergan Belson about 40ks from Hamberg.

I respect people that include all the history, thank you again

As an 8th grade teacher, I am always amazed at the interest the students have in the Holocaust. Like most people, they cannot believe that no one was able to stop Hitler. "How did it happen?" they ask me every year.

I have attended the Belfer Conference at the USHMM in Washington, D.C., and firmly believe that our students must be taught about the Holocaust so they will not become members of a group which ignores intolerance because it does not affect them.

Our community is small and has very few minorities. My students are outraged by injustice, but they basically have not experienced it in their lives.

I mean they say they used the information on their projects but I wander if they actually read it and understand that civilsation slipped away from Hitler, that there is evil in all of us, you just need something to trigger it off. Hitler's was triggered.

I am engaged in an extensive photographic project to make images of the residual structures. I have been to Birkenau/Auschwitz and Mauthausen so I know about them. Others are harder to find out about.
