André EILENBERG was born on August 6,
1927, in Lille (Nord), on the Belgian border. He was deported on March 7, 1944,
on convoy 69 after having been arrested in
Thenay (Ain). The picture was taken in Saint-Gaultier (Indre). A friend,
Nadine, describes him: "He was an adolescent full of life, gay, always laughing
and joking, lively and smart... . Every time I look through my photo album, I
am always very moved to see our little friend in a picture with a group of
friends on the banks of the Creuse River in the summer of 1942 where we swam
and played, like the children we were." |
