Georges-André KOHN was 12 years old and
a pupil at the Janson-de-Sailly lycée in Paris when he was deported on
the last convoy from Drancy, convoy 79 of
August 17, 1944. Aloïs Brunner, then the commanding officer at Drancy,
accompanied that convoy when he had to abandon the camp. With him he took
hostages, including the Kohn family whom he particularly hated.
Georges-André's older brother and sister were able to escape from the
convoy, but the rest of the family were deported. Only the father returned,
