Yvette ACHACH and Suzy-Eva SCHAECHTER were in the Poitiers lycée in 1941-42 and were saved from oblivion by the investigation of one of their schoolmates, Clara de Huert, who undertook to find out what happened to her deported friends. Suzy-Eva Schaechter was born on January 18, 1928, in Troppau, then Czechoslovakia. She crossed into the Vichy Zone in 1942 and was arrested at Courthezon (Vaucluse) in southeastern France. She was sent to the Milles camp, transferred to Drancy, and deported on convoy 29 of September 7, 1942. Yvette Achach was arrested in the big roundup of French Jews in the Poitiers area and deported on convoy 68 of February 10, 1944, along with her friend Odette KAHN (page 853). She was born on October 17, 1927, in Oran, Algeria, and lived at 26 rue de la Cathédrale in Poitiers.
