Guest Book

Question:

Thanks for providing such a well-organized and important service. Do you realize that the guest book feature is being abused? There are a number of unpleasant posts there, including Holocaust denials. The subject of Holocaust denial is one that clearly demonstrates how many mentally ill people there are in the world: people who suspect everyone of conspiring against them who refuse to accept evidence provided by the killers themselves! Bizarre. But thanks for fighting the good fight against them.

Yale F. Edeiken answers:

Hello.

I am one of the volunteers who asnwers questions for The Holocaust History Project and we would like to thank you for both voicing your concerns and for your words of encouragment.

We have long been aware that there are occasional messages that appear on our guestbook from those who deny the Holocaust. In fact, we do screen all comments before they are posted in our guestbook. When we began this feature we decided that the guestbook should reflect the messages that we receive and the fact is that we do receive messages from the deniers of the Holocaust. I have referred your comment to the membership of our corporation with the question of whether we should reconsider this policy.

I think you should also know that many of us frequently review the guestbook for it does demosntrate to us that almost everyone who leaves a message supports our work.
