How did they put the numbers on the Jews wrists?

The numbers were tattooed on various parts of their bodies, their wrists, their forearms, or in some cases on their chest.

Are there any documents to correlate the tattoos of Ravensbruck and Buchenwald to the names of the people who were sent to the individual camps?
