Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Sindi
Ph.D. International Relations
Abdullah M. Sindi was born in Mecca (Makkah), Saudi arabia in 1944. He graduated from high school in 1963 with distinguished honors as one of the top 10 students in all of Saudi Arabia (the 7th in the nation). He was awarded several full scholarships from the Saudi Government to study both in Europe and the U.S. He studied in France in 1963-64 both at the Universite de Grenoble in Grenoble and the Universite de Poitiers in Tours. In 1964-65 he attended the Universite de Liege, in Liege, belgium. In 1965-66 he attended indiana University in Bloomington. He received both his BA(1970) and MA (1971) in International Relations from California State University in Sacramento. In 1971-1972 he was the Director of the Scholarship Department at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He received his Ph.D. in 1978 in International Relations from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Sindi was a professor of Political science and International Relations (1978-84 and 1986-87) at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. In 1984-86 he was also an adjunct professor at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies in Jeddah. In 1984-86 he worked as a research fellow at the Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). He taught at various American universities and colleges such as the University of California at Irvine, California State University in Pomona, Cerritos Community College, and Fullerton Community College.
Dr. Sindi is the author of several articles both in English and arabic published in Saudi Arabia and the US. Among his important publications are: Nationalism: Studies in Contemporary Political Concepts, Majalat al-Derasat al-Diplomacia , Institute of Diplomatic Studies (Saudi Arabiaís Foreign Ministry), April 1984; Bureaucratic Politics and Its Impact on American Foreign Policy, Journal of Economics and Administration, King Abdulaziz University, September 1983; The United National Concept of Collective Security: A Critical Appraisal, Journal of Economics and Administration, August 1982; King Faisal and Pan Islamism in King Faisal and the modernization of Saudi Arabia , edited by Willard A. Beling (Boulder, Colorado: Westview Press, 1980); and How the Jewish-Zionist Grip on American Film and Television Promotes Bias Against Arabs and Muslims, Journal of Historical Review, September/October 1998.
Dr. Sindi appeared in Who's Who in Saudi Arabia: 1983-84; participated in several conferences in the US and lectured on Arab politics; was a guest speaker on radio political talk shows both in Saudi Arabia and the US; was interviewed by the Voice of America radio station; and was interviewed by the press in the Los Angeles area including Buzz Magazine (November 1993).
Dr. Sindi is married to an American; he has two children, Suzanne 21, and Fred 15. He lives in Placentia, California.
