The Birth of the Ku Klux Klan

The Ku Klux Klan evolved out of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. The Confederate Secret Service was called the Knights of the Golden Circle. Some prominent members of this group were General Nathan Bedford Forrest, ALbert Pike, Judah P. Benjamin, Jesse W. James, J. Frank Dalton , William Clark Quantrill. And every other officer above the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Confederate States of American Army.

Because the Greek word for circle is KUKLUS the KNIGHTS of the GOLDEN CIRLCE changed names in 1865 to the Ku Klux Klan. Both organizations are, of course, still in existence.

The Knights were born around 1835 by the Senator from South Caroline John Calhoun. In fact, during the Civil War the Secret Password for the KGC was the word CALHOUN pronounced BACKWARDS. NU OH LAC The very first Imperial Wizard of the Klan was Nathan Bedford Forrest (the Wizard of the Saddle)

Many books exist on the KGC. One of the best is Del Schroeder's Jesse James Was One of His Names. Another spellbinder is John Wilkes Booth's granddaughter's This One Mad Act by Iola Forrester Booth. And many others. Another important book on the subject was The Real Origins of the Ku Klux Klan written in 1905 by Angela Forrest. (Nathan Bedford Forrest's granddaughter)
