Hi, more easily acquired in German using countries, but this wordless cartoon book called Vader und Sohn (Father and Son) might be quite nice for Phase 2. I looked on Amazon U.S. under the artist's name, E.O. Plauen, and found some listings but mostly as used books.  If you go to Amazon Germany, you can find a retail selection. 

It's also available with a French title Pere & Fils

Oh, and it does look like a 2010 edition is coming out in English
