The Bee & the Pigeon On a tree by a river was a beehive. A family of bees lived there who’s son was very hardworking. Each day he went out to look for food for his family. Near the beehive was a pigeon’s nest. The pigeon loved to sit and watch the bee work. He liked the bee’s industriousness. One day, the pigeon was surprised because he didn’t see his bee friend. “Where’s my buddy,” he said to himself. “Usually by now he’s busy looking for honey. Suddenly, the pigeon heard a voice crying for help from the river. He rushed to the river to see what was happening and was shocked to see the bee struggling and nearly drowning in the swift river. The bee had fallen in the river and he couldn’t swim because his wings were too wet. “Hold on, my friend,” said the pigeon. He quickly flew and plucked a leaf and dropped it toward the bee. The bee climbed on the leaf and the bird pulled it to the shore. “Thank you my friend for saving me,” said the bee. Several days later, the bee went to the nearby forest to look for honey. Suddenly, he saw a hunter aiming his gun toward the pigeon. The bee was shocked when he saw his friend in danger. He quickly flew toward the hunter and stung his neck. “Ouch, that hurts!” yelled the hunter. The pigeon was startled to hear this yelling but was however thankful that the beel saved him. “Thank you my friend because you saved me,” said the pigeon. Lesson: One good deed deserves another.
