Once you have written a practice Task 2 essay, use the following questions to make sure you have included everything.

Task Response:

• Have you written between 250 and 300 words?
• Do you state your position in the introduction?
• Does each paragraph relate to the task of the question?

Coherence and Cohesion:

• Have you used paragraphs?
• Is there a clear introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion?
• Have you used examples and reasons?
• Do your sentences link together?
• Have you used punctuation?
• Have you used transition/connecting phrases?

Lexical Resource:

• Have you paraphrased, so there is not repeating of the question?
• Have you not repeated any words several times?
• Have you used some academic vocabulary?
• Have you used vocabulary specific to the topic of the question?

Grammatical Range and Accuracy:

• Have you checked your spelling?
• Have you checked verb tenses?
• Are you sentences generally more than 10 words long?
