Fania Borach (Fanny Brice) was born in New York City on October 29, 1891. Her parents were wealthy saloon owners. When she was 17 years old she joined a burlesque review, and by 1910, at age 19 she was the star of the Ziegfeld Follies. In 1921 she recorded her big stage song, 'My Man' which became her signature song. She went on to later star on Broadway, and even later became a commedienne and famous for her radio situation comedy where she portrayed Baby Snooks in the 1940's and 1950's. Fanny Brice died on May 30, 1951, at the age of 59, from a massive cerebral hemorrhage.
