Weldon Leo 'Jack' Teagarden was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma around the blues music and church songs of African Americans. After playing trombone for The Peck Kelly Band, Paul Whiteman's big band, the Benny Goodman Orchestra, Louis Armstrong's All Stars and Ben Pollock's band he created his own orchestra and spent his life entertaining the world with his unique Dixieland style of dance jazz.
