Alice Jeane Leppert (Alice Faye), was born on May 5, 1915 in New York City. In the early 1930's she was a chorus girl for the Chester Hale Vaudeville Unit and George White's Scandals, and changed her stage name to Alice Faye during this period. She appeared in many Hollywood musical movies for 20th Century Fox, and in 1941 married comedian Phil Harris, and starred with him on several radio shows, including the Jack Benny Show. She continued to guest star on television through the 1970's on shows like the Perry Como Show, the Dean Martin Show, the Tonight Show, the Mike Douglas Show, the Red Skelton Show, and even an episode of the Love Boat. Alice had 23 songs on the Hit Parade, a record for all female movie stars. Many considered her the female Bing Crosby. Irving Berlin said that she was always his first choice to introduce his new songs. Alice died four days before her eightyfourth birthday in Rancho Mirage, California on May 9, 1998.
