Arthur Godfrey, born on August 31, 1903, was one of early television's first stars, after building fame on the radio. He did it all on radio - singing, disk jockey, interviews, and quiz shows. His radio talent program, Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts would feature unknown performers trying to break into mainstream entertainment, and when television started growing he hosted a television version of the talent show, and one surviving episode from 1953 can be seen here: Free-Classic-tv-Shows.com - Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts.
