In 1930 the Great Depression was in full swing and disposable money for entertainment was hard to come by. Music records made of brittle shellac were very expensive, so when a company marketed a fifteen cent music record created with a newly patented flexible synthetic resin called Durium that was put on light cardboard, sales were very brisk across the country. There was a new record sold every week at newsstands alongside daily newspapers and monthly magazines. By 1932 even the twenty cents that the flexible records cost was too much for the cash starved nation and the company went bankrupt. Below is a copy of every record produced, with an explaination of the whole concept on the first recording.
