Elizabeth June Thornburg (Betty Hutton) was born on February 26, 1921 and died on March 12, 2007). Her father left the family (mother and an older sister) when Betty was very young, and committed suicide some years later. They opened a speakeasy and Betty sang in it when she was three years old. This is where Betty probably developed her loud, brash singing sytle. Because of trouble with the police in their speakeasy, they moved frequently and started over with a new speakeasy in a new town. In 1950, when Betty was an established actress, her mother was in the car with her behind a police escort to the premier of her movie ‘Let's Dance,’ her mother turned to her and said, “At least this time the police are in front of us!” You can watch two Betty Hutton Movies Here:
