Orie Frank Trumbauer was born on May 30, 1901 in Carbondale, Illinois, was the master of saxophone jass in the 1920's and 1930's. He composed very complex melodies for the Saxophone, and had one of the most popular bands of the 1920's and 1930's, but he will always be remembered for his recording of "Singin the Blues till My Daddy Comes Home." This recording, with Bix Beiderbecke on trumpet, is widely considered as the greatest jass performances ever to be recorded. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1977. Frannkie Trumbauer died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 55 in Kansas City Missouri on June 11, 1956.
