Goodman Ace (Goodman Aiskowitz) was a movie critic for the Kansas City Journal Post newspaper who reviewed movies once a week on a local radio station. One day when the cast of the radio program that followed his show didn't show up he and his wife Jane ad-libbed a situation comedy about the well-spoken writer and his problem-prone wife, and that show lasted for fifteen years.
