Boston Blackie was a safecracker and jewel thief who became a detective helping the friendless, and was advertised as "an enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend." Chester Morris played the part of Boston Blackie in several movies, and in the first episodes of the radio program which began on June 13, 1944. On April 11, 1945 Richard Kollmar took the part of Boston Blackie. The radio program also included Jan Miner as his girlfriend/assistant Mary Wesley, and Maurice Tarplin played the part of Police Inspector Farraday.
