Two Volume Set Printed in 1704. These large books are 12.5" tall, 8.5" wide and 3" thick. Printed by H.C. for Awnsham and John Churchill at the Black Swan in Pater-noster-Row.
Volume I begins with Kingdom of Chile. Volume I is clearly embossed in the original spine, however, the title page calls the book Volume III. 17 large, foldout illustrations. Dozens of smaller page and half page illustrations and navigational tables. All illustrations are from copper engravings. Page 155 begins Sir Willis Monson's Naval Tracts in six books. Page 565 begins Descriptions of the coastlines of Malabar and coromal...... in the East Indies. 3 large foldouts scholastically assist with knowledge concerning the indicative language native to Malabar. Page 667 Ceylon. 830 Idolatry in East Indies. 918 total pages of long forgotten knowledge and stories. These books have been featured in two film productions.
Volume II is titled as volume IV In Four Volumes: 9 foldouts,4 of them very large. Volume II begins with the famous works by Dr. John Francis Gamelli Careri who traveled the world during the 1660's. Volume II features other authors but none to the magnitude of Dr. Careri. 861 pages in this volume making a total of 1779 pages printed over 300 years ago. A treasure trove of information! This volume also features dozens of important foldouts never published or printed in any other form.
The above foldout is a reprint of Samuel Perkins' 1633 map of Greenland featured in the first Volume.
Above is the oldest known actual hand-drawn copy of the original Aztec Rebis. It differs greatly from the modern copies in many ways. Dr. Careri records more information concerning New Spain than any other writer of his time.
These are the only first hand descriptions and artwork of Aztec warriors and Priest known to exist on the planet making these books a priceless trove of information. Also included in Dr. Careri's numerous foldouts, is the only copy known of the original Aztec / Mayan Calendar with a complete detail of how the original calendar is read and why. This information varies greatly from all moderns sources..
