  • Relieves depression and the effects of stress.

What is PREGNENOLONE?

PREGNENOLONE is a natural occurring substance manufactured within the body. It is produced in the brain, and in the adrenal glands, allowing it to act throughout the nervous system and areas of the body involving hormones and immunity.

PREGNENOLONE has a tremendous memory enhancing effects and can repair the myelin sheath membrane that protects our brain cells, and enhance DHEA levels.

The body's production of many of our hormones naturally declines with age.

Dr. Eugene Roberts of the Department of Biochemistry at the Beckman Research Institute in Duarte, California is perhaps the world's foremost researcher on PREGNENOLONE. He estimates that the human body makes 60 percent less PREGNENOLONE at age 75 than it does at age 35.

The body makes PREGNENOLONE from cholesterol. Cholesterol itself is derived primarily from the foods we eat, such as meat, eggs, poultry, butter and dairy products. Cholesterol is also produced within the body, especially in the liver.

Technically, even though PREGNENOLONE is a steroid hormone, it is not strictly controlled by FDA because it is considered a food derivative and therefore classified as a nutritional supplement.

How is PREGNENOLONE Metabolized?

PREGNENOLONE  can be easily converted within the body into other substances including hormones like androgens, estrogens and other steroids. Its  ability to form other hormones is the reason it is termed a steroid precursor hormone. When you take PREGNENOLONE, your body will decide which of two pathways it can take for conversion into other hormonal substances.
In one pathway, PREGNENOLONE  can be converted into a substance known as DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), which is the less common metabolic pathway. Along the other, which is the more common metabolic pathway, PREGNENOLONE can be converted potentially into any or all of a chain of three hormones starting with progesterone, then cortisol, and finally aldogesterone according to what the body dictates. PREGNENOLONE is not an effective substitutes for DHEA because it is not the usual metabolic pathway conversion.

    Hormone Replacement therapy
Since PREGNENOLONE is a natural metabolite of cholesterol, it therefore is less apt to produce the side effects associated with more the side effects associated with more traditional hormone replacement therapies.

This fact is encouraging for menopausal and postmenopausal women who are worried about the potential side effects of direct or artificial female hormone medication. PREGNENOLONE may also help balance estrogen levels in the body naturally, possibly aiding women who suffer from conditions linked to high estrogen levels such as PMS, endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease.

Is PREGNENOLONE Safe?

Dr Roberts thinks that PREGNENOLONE may be safer and a more acceptable way of providing hormone replacement therapy than those most often currently employed.
It was determined back in 1944 that PREGNENOLONE was nontoxic.

Dr. Roberts reported in 1995 that relatively high doses of PREGNENOLONE given daily to patients with Alzheimer's disease for 3 months did not induce toxicity.

Some Conditions for Which PREGNENOLONE Can Be Helpful:

    Memory and Cognitive Functions
    as well as Mood Enhancement.

The brain contains large amounts of steroid precursors derivatives such as cholesterol. It also possesses the enzymes to convert cholesterol into PREGNENOLONE. levels OF PREGNENOLONE are many times higher in the human brain and neural tissues than they are in blood. There are many ways that PREGNENOLONE can influence our brain chemistry:

In Memory and Thinking, an exciting aspect of PREGNENOLONE is its memory-enhancing activity. Studies have shown it to be hundreds of times more powerful than other memory enhancing substances.

PREGNENOLONE is also known to interact with NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate). NMDA plays, an important role in regulating the form and function of synapses of neurons which are fundamental to learning and memory. Aging is thought to invoice a decline in the number of NMDA receptors, within the body. This may partially account for the loss of learning ability and memory capacity often associated with the advancement of age.

    Stress and Depression

Without a doubt, stress can profoundly influence the rate which our brain cells get old and damaged. Stress affects not only brain cells, but the rest of the cells of our body.

Stress is also known to alter the amounts and types of steroid hormones produced. High levels can lead to a failure in the maintenance of ideal hormonal balances. The end result may lead to mental and physical diseases. The supplementation of PREGNENOLONE, by itself or in  combination with  DHEA, has the potential to decrease and perhaps reverse the harmful effects of excessive stress throughout the body. PREGNENOLONE functions as a :neurohormone" in the body, and has been shown to significantly help in balancing moods and emotions such as depression and anxiety.

At the end of 1995, Dr. Flood Morley and Roberts stated that PREGNENOLONE is up to 100 times more effective for memory enhancement than other steroid derivatives

How to Take PREGNENOLONE?

For cognitive performance take one capsule daily (25 mg.) upon arising before the age of 50.
After the age of 50 take 2 capsules (50 mg) daily upon arising. We do recommend you consult with your physician for optimal use.
Warning: Not for use by children, pregnant or lactating women.

Each capsule contains:25 mg of PREGNENOLONE and 25 mg of Ascorbyl Palmitate, a fat soluble Vitamin C which helps to improve the absorption of PREGNENOLONE.
