massive chalcopyrite-1
Chalcopyrite is a copper and iron sulfide.
The name chalcopyrite says it all:
"chalco" is copper and "pyrite" is iron
sulfide. Chalcopyrite is also known as yellow
copper ore.
Chalcopyrite can be distinguished from pyrite, which it closely
resembles in
massive form, by its much more intense yellow color. Pyrite is often
described as a pale brassy yellow, while chalcopyrite is a strong brassy yellow.
