openlog ident, logopt, facility
Opens the log file. Takes the following arguments:
- ident

Prepended to every message
- logopt

Logging options, containing one or more of:
- cons

Writes messages to system console if they can't be
sent to syslogd
- ndelay

Opens the connection immediately
- nowait

Doesn't wait for child processes before logging
messages to the console
- pid

Logs process ID
- facility
-
Specifies the part of the system making the log entry
setlogmask mask_priority
Sets log mask to mask_priority and returns
the old mask.
syslog priority, mask, format, args
If priority and
mask permit, logs message formed as if by
sprintf(format,
args), with the addition that
%m is replaced with the current error message from
$!.
