Taking the Hardware Tutorial
Introduction.
This tutorial will provide you with information to provide
a "very basic", non-technical, understanding of a PC and its components.
THIS VERSION IS FOR REVIEW AND COMMENTS ON THE
APPROACH I AM TAKING. THE CONTENTS WILL BE CHANGING DAILY AS I HAVE
TIME. The
date of the last version is on the title line at the top of the
screen.
You can select items from the menu at the left at any time, by
clicking on the topic you desire. Normally, any text in "blue" or
"purple" will be a topic you can see by clicking on it.
You can take this course over the network. It will be
somewhat slow loading all files and graphics over the Internet.
So, we suggest you see the downloading item in the menu.
We cannot control such things as your fonts and colors on
your PC, but there are the "Font Keys" on your browser's "tool bar" that sometime
allow you to control your font size to a degree. Click on the
smaller character if you have something like this:
or it may look like this
which you may have to click several times to reduce to the smallest
font size:
You can move around the course using the hot-spots
by clicking on items that are high-lighted (blue or purple), or
you can click on the arrow keys in the menu bar to go to the last
location or topic you were in before you clicked the last topic.
You can enlarge the size of your viewing area
by clicking on the "up pointing" arrow in the upper right corner
of your browser window.
PRINTING TOPICS: You can print each topic if you desire. Simply
click on the "File" item in the menu bar across the top of your screen, then click on "Print" in the
drop-down menu.
You can download the files to your PC if you have 1.5 MB hard disk
space available. We suggest you download the course. It will run much faster.
NOTE: This course is still in development. It will be updated periodically,
and the new files will be available to you. All current lessons are not completed, and
the exams are still in development as of 19 Mar 97.
We recommend that you download the course each month to get current updates.
