HOW TO INSTALL THE PICTURES FROM MT. ECCLESIA SCREEN SAVER STEP 1 ------ If you received the original installation disk for the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver on floppy disk, then here's how to proceed: Insert the RF_PIXSS disk into your floppy drive and select RUN from the FILE menu of Program Manager or RUN after clicking on START in Windows 95. Type A:setup or B:setup and hit ENTER. Follow the on- screen instructions. If you received the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver on CD- ROM, then: Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and select RUN from the FILE menu of Program Manager or RUN after clicking on START in Windows 95. Type d:\rf_pixss\setup (d: is the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive) and hit ENTER. Follow the on-screen instructions. STEP 2 ------ To setup the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver, go into CONTROL PANEL-DESKTOP (Windows 3.1) or CONTROL PANEL-DISPLAY-SCREEN SAVER (Windows 95) and click the arrow on Screen Saver and select RF_PIXSS. To change screen saver options, click on SETUP (Windows 3.1) or SETTINGS (Windows 95) and change the settings in the options file (RF_PIXSS.INI) as you would in any Windows text box. Click on SAVE to save your changes, then QUIT to exit the options screen. Click on TEST (Windows 3.1) or PREVIEW (Windows 95) to test your settings. NOTE: The first setting (line) in the RF_PIXSS.INI file represents how long any particular picture will be displayed (in seconds). For the second line enter a value of 0 (zero) if you do not want to display the filename along with the picture. Enter a value of 1 if you would like the filename shown in the upper left hand top of your screen. The third line reflects the drive and directory where your pictures are stored. If you changed the default directory during the installation process from c:\rf_pixss, then you will need to modify the third line to reflect the drive and directory where you installed RF_PIXSS. The rest of the lines reflect the filenames of the pictures you want displayed. If you do not specify a full path along with the filename, then the picture is expected to be in the drive/directory shown on line 3. To display pictures located elsewhere on your hard drive, simply list the complete path plus filename on any particular line. Your pictures must be in the .BMP format and naming convention. Your screen saver will start the display with a random picture from your list, then sequentially display the pictures you have listed in the order given. STEP 3 ------ Set the time interval for your screen saver to be activated, then click on OK. ADDENDUM -------- If you downloaded or received this copy of the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver (RF_PIXSS) from a BBS or if RF_PIXSS is in the form of a compressed .ZIP file, then here's how to proceed: 1. Create a new directory or folder called RF_PIXSS. 2. Copy the RF_PIXSS.ZIP file to this directory. 3. Using PKUNZIP or WinZIP or any other unzipping tool, unzip RF_PIXSS.ZIP in the RF_PIXSS directory. 4. Start Windows if it is not already running. 5. From Program Manager click File, then RUN or in Windows 95 click on START, then RUN. 6. Type C:\RF_PIXSS\SETUP. Click on OK. 7. Watch as the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver installs itself. 8. When RF_PIXSS finishes the installation, it will tell you so. 9. Go to STEP 2 on page 1 and follow the directions. TIPS and HINTS Different computer and operating systems act differently. For the best pictures you should set your video card to display 64K colors rather than the usual 256. Go into CONTROL PANEL or your video card software to make this change. RF_PIXSS.EXE comes with the Pictures from Mt. Ecclesia Screen Saver. This is so you can run the program outside the confines of the Windows screen saver system, if you like. Simply set up a desktop shortcut or an icon in Program Manager to run RF_PIXSS.EXE and add ' /c' (without the quotes) to the command line (e.g. c:\rf_pixss.exe /c). Then you can run the program at any time with a double-click of the mouse on the icon. Be sure to change the RF_PIXSS.INI in the directory that holds RF_PIXSS.EXE so that it knows where to find your pictures, etc. There are a couple of shareware programs that allow you to modify picture files or change from one type of file to another.
