I was eating in an airport cafe in Sydney with a plastic knife
and fork
because I was told it was to stop passengers taking metal knives
and forks
onto planes. When I got onto my plane and the meal arrived, they
gave me
metal knives and forks.
I had to hand over nail clippers at Canberra airport which
opened no more
than an eighth of an inch and they could do no harm to anyone no
matter how
you may try. A fellow passenger went through the same security
man with a
pair of scizzors that could do someone serious damage (though
still not
hi-jack a plane full of people).
I also went through the airport "security" system in every major
Australian
and New Zealand airport with metal in my pocket and never once
did the alarm
sound.
It's a farce and has nothing to do with safety and everything to
do with
control and creating the mentality of subservience to
authority.
