The IHR says:
No, the films do not claim to be history, rather fictional
dramatizations BASED on history. Unfortunately, all too many people have
taken them to be accurate representations of history as it really
happened.
Nizkor replies:
There are many authentic films from the camps -- photographed by the
Allies and the Russians. Some rather gruesome but totally accurate
representations of history can be found
here.
