Paintings for sale

Some months ago I was quite drawn to an illumination in a manuscript I recently discovered in the Herzog-August-Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel. This is a 15th century Flemish manuscript by an unidentified artist, the Master of Evert Zoudenbalch, sometime around 1465-70. This seems to depict Fortuna and her wheel set in the moon. She leads a donkey while a fox, lion, greyhound and monkey struggle around the wheel of fortune. I made this facsimile in oil, so the painting is framed without glass. The surface is glazed and varnished. The exterior dimensions of the frame are 9 by 9 inches (230 by 230 mm) and the image itself is 7 by 7 inches (177 by 177 mm). I am willing to sell this for £250 ($500) plus the cost of postage and insurance. Please email me at    [email protected]  if you wish to purchase this work.

I finally completed, after over a years delay, the portrait of Paracelsus painted by an unidentified flemish artist in the 17th century copying an original portrait by the Flemish artist Quentin Metsys (c.1465-1530) who was a contemporary of Paracelsus. Being in oils the painting is framed without glass. The surface is glazed and varnished. The exterior dimensions of the frame are 15.5 by 12 inches (394 by 305 mm) and the image itself is 12.5 by 9.4 inches (318 by 240 mm). I am willing to sell this for £500 ($1000) plus the cost of postage and insurance. Please email me at    [email protected]  if you wish to purchase this work.

In March 2008 I completed work on the small portrait of John Dee, based on the familiar painting in the Ashmolean in Oxford. I have had this framed in a simple warm stained ramin wood frame, which I think reflects and resonates with the general tonalities of the painting. Being in oils the painting is framed without glass. The surface is glazed and varnished. The exterior dimensions of the frame are 14 by 11 inches (350 by 280 mm) and the image itself is 11 by 8 inches (275 by 208 mm). I am willing to sell this for £300 ($600) plus the cost of postage and insurance. SOLD 2012
