AUCUBA , the See also:

Japanese name for a small genus of the See also:Dogwood See also:order (Cornaceae). The See also:familiar Japanese See also:laurel of gardens and shrubberies is Aucuba japonica. It bears male and See also:female See also:flowers on distinct See also:plants; the red berries often last till the next See also:season's flowers appear. There are numerous varieties in cultivation, differing in the variegation of their leaves.
