CABANEL, See also:ALEXANDRE (1823-1889) , See also:French painter, was See also:born at See also:Montpellier, and studied in See also:Paris, gaining the Prix de See also:Rome in 1845. His pictures soon attracted See also:attention, and by his " See also:Birth of See also:Venus " (1863), now in the Luxembourg, he became famous, being elected that See also:year to the See also:Institute. He became the most popular portrait painter of the See also:day, and his pupils included a number of famous artists.
