CANDON , a See also:

town of See also:South Ilocos See also:province, Luzon, Philippine Islands, on the W. See also:coast, about 200 M. N. by W. of See also:Manila. Pop. (1903) 18,828. Itsclimateishot, though healthy. Candon is surrounded by an extensive and fertile See also:plain, and is defended by a small fort. Its inhabitants are noted for their honesty and See also:industry, as well as for their regard for See also:law and See also:order. They carry on an extensive See also:traffic with the See also:wild tribes of the neighbouring mountains. See also:Indigo is grown in considerable quantity, as are See also:rice and See also:tobacco. The See also:weaving of blankets, handkerchiefs, and See also:cotton and See also:silk cloths constitutes quite an important industry. The See also:language is Ilocanc.
