CHINTZ , a word derived from the See also:

Hindu chint, spotted or variegated. This name was given to a See also:kind of stained or painted See also:calico produced in See also:India. It is now applied to a highly glazed printed calico, commonly made in several See also:colours on a See also:light ground and used for See also:bed hangings, covering See also:furniture, &c.
