HUAMBISAS , a tribe of See also:

South See also:American See also:Indians on the upper Maranon and See also:Santiago. See also:rivers, See also:Peru. In 1841 they drove all the civilized Indians from the neighbouring See also:missions. In 1843 they killed all the inhabitants of the See also:village of See also:Santa Teresa, between the mouths of the Santiago and Morona. They are See also:fair-skinned and bearded, sharing with the See also:Jeveros a descent from the See also:Spanish See also:women captured by their See also:Indian ancestors at the See also:sack of Sevilla del Oro in 1599.
