JARO , a See also:

town of the See also:province of Iloilo, Panay, Philippine Islands, on the Jaro See also:river, 2 M. N.W. of the town of Iloilo, the See also:capital. Pop. (1903), io,681. It lies on a See also:plain in the midst of a See also:rich agricultural See also:district, has several See also:fine residences, a See also:cathedral, a curious three-tiered See also:tower, a semi-weekly See also:paper and a monthly periodical. Jaro was founded by the See also:Spanish in 1584. From 1903 until See also:February 1908 it was See also:part of the town or See also:municipality of Iloilo.
