KERMADEC , a small See also:

group of hilly islands in the Pacific, about 30° S., 178° W., named from D'See also:Entrecasteaux's See also:captain, Huon Kermadec, in 1791. They are See also:British possessions. The largest of the group is Raoul er See also:Sunday See also:Island, 20 M. in circumference, 1600 ft. high, and thickly wooded. The See also:flora and See also:fauna belong for the most See also:part to those of New See also:Zealand, on which See also:colony the islands are also politically dependent, having been annexed in 1887.
