KHAIRAGARH , a feudatory See also:

state in the Central Provinces, See also:India. See also:Area, 931 sq. m.; pop. (1901), 137,554, showing a decrease of 24% in the See also:decade due to the effects of See also:famine; estimated See also:revenue, 20,000; See also:tribute £4600. The See also:chief, who is descended from the old Gond royal See also:family, received the See also:title of See also:raja as an hereditary distinction in 1898. The state includes a fertile See also:plain, yielding See also:rice and See also:cotton. Its prosperity has been promoted by the See also:Bengal-See also:Nagpur railway, which has a station at Dongargarh, the largest See also:town (pop.5856), connected by road with Khairagarh town, the See also:residence of the raja.
